Teaching in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia can be a positive and fulfilling experience. The Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission does not advertise teaching positions; we only facilitate the process if you are accepted. You can find teaching positions in Saudi Arabia on various job network websites on the web.
If you are successful, the Saudi University or college sends us an official request to process the new employee’s paperwork and issue a visa. The Saudi university must send us an official letter detailing the employee’s salary and other relevant details.
Following the above, we contact the employee for the purpose of coming to Canberra to sign the contract. This cannot be done outside the capital, as the employee needs to sign it in the presence of the Cultural Attaché to Australia.
You will need to bring the following to Canberra:

  1. All original certificates stamped by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (and two photocopies)
  2. Two passport photos
  3. Medical clearance report
  4. Valid Australian passport

The above must be ready and with you when you decide to visit us at the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission. Our business hours are 9am-4pm, ensure you have made an appointment in advance as the Cultural Attaché is not always in Canberra.

Following the signing of the contract, the employee must contact one of the assigned travel agents that issue visas on behalf of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia. The Embassy will not accept direct applications for visas so please do not mail your passports there. Click here for a list of travel agents around Australia that deal with visas to Saudi Arabia. The agent will explain the procedures.
